FROM TRANSITION TO INTEGRATION – 9 MONTHS AFTER THE ACQUISITION OF PROINVENT
Last fall PJM acquired key activities from ProInvent A/S to strengthen our market position and competencies within the medico and pharma industries while also strengthening our presence in the capital region. Our focus during the transition was a successful onboarding of our four new colleagues as well as helping customers complete their ongoing projects.
In this blog post, we revisit where we are today, a little over nine months after bringing new projects into PJM and welcoming Nikolaj, Esben, Simone and Morten to the PJM team.
ADAPTING TO A NEW REALITY
The period following an acquisition can be challenging for everyone involved—especially for employees who, on top of everything else, have also changed workplace as part of the process. The transition has been a period of adjustment, learning, and building new foundations while keeping momentum in day-to-day work.
Despite the challenges and the unconventional start to a new job the change has also brought many good things with it. Esben Skov Rasmussen, Mechanical Designer, explains: “It was a bit chaotic in the beginning and there was a lot of uncertainties about what was going to happen. But it was great to see that PJM was truly interested in us and that they were ready to listen and meet us in the middle.”
Esben continues to describe his experience during the first few months after joining PJM: “In the beginning it was mainly continuing to work on solutions and documentation from old ProInvent projects and handing over some responsibilities to other departments while also integrating into PJM, a new role, new projects and building relationships. PJM is quite a bit bigger than ProInvent, so that naturally takes some getting used to. But it has been interesting to see machines built in a different way, and I’m curious to learn more about the machines and solutions we’re working on.”
Esbens colleague Nikolaj Skov Jensen, Project Manager, reflects on supporting projects and customers while changing employer:” I was in the final stage of a large project when PJM took over from ProInvent – all four us were. It was great that the necessary tools were made available to us as quickly as possible. This made it possible for us to complete the project successfully. It was also really rewarding to get ProInvents customers a good start in PJM so they can continue to receive strong support and service.”
STRENGTHENING OUR WORKPLACE NEAR COPENHAGEN
One of the key benefits following the acquisition has been the opportunity to strengthen our Ballerup office – both in terms of its facilities and the number of people working there.
For quite some time, we have aimed to further develop this location to provide even better facilities for our employees based in the Greater Copenhagen area, while also making it easier for new talent – particularly engineers, programmers and project professionals – to join us while working in an office space closer to home.
Over the past nine months, we have built a more solid presence in the capital region, and we are very pleased to see the office being used actively.
Morten, Nikolaj, Esben and Simone all live in the greater Copenhagen area, and they clearly emphasise that the Ballerup office plays a vital role in their everyday life. This is something Nikolaj also highlights:
“The possibility of working from Ballerup is essential to me - without it I couldn't make my daily life work. I enjoy working from Fårevejle, but the flexibility is key.
I really like the office space in Ballerup. It is inviting and a great work environment. We have a diverse mix of professional backgrounds – we even have colleagues from BILA and students from DTU working alongside us. We have a strong community that makes it a good place to work – while being closer to Copenhagen.”
GROWING IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT
The initial chaos is now subsided, and everyone is settling into the new normal. The ongoing projects have been completed, and a few have emerged along the way. We are glad to see our new colleagues becoming part of exciting projects and already making valuable contributions through their knowledge and input. And we look forward to following and supporting their continued development as specialists within their fields.
Simone Seefeldeen Elghazoly, Software Designer, describes his ambitions for the future: “It’s important to me to keep growing at a fast pace and to get hands-on experience with a wide range of tasks.
I’m particularly motivated by the opportunity to take on new projects and to be involved from the very early design stages. I have enjoyed leading projects from the ground up in the past, and I am looking forward to doing so again while helping develop innovative solutions and new technologies.
For me, growth comes from constantly exploring new possibilities, and I see PJM as a place where that is encouraged. The design teams work at the intersection of development and innovation, where you are not just following established paths but actively figuring out how to make new ideas work. That is what makes PJM a perfect environment for my continued growth.”
Looking back, the period following the acquisition has been both dynamic and rewarding. The onboarding of the new colleagues has been smooth with only a few bumps along the way. They have already made a positive impact – not least by bringing fresh perspectives that challenge existing ways of thinking and suggesting new approaches. At the same time, they have contributed actively to ongoing projects, quickly becoming an integral part of new ones, adding both knowledge and energy to the organisation.
Altogether, the process has helped expand our customer base, strengthen our overall know-how and develop our footprint in the capital region.
